Prop Bets: Are They a Worthy Proposition Or a Money Drain?

Prop betting has long been a popular part of the sports betting industry in the United States. You can place prop bets on almost any sports game, including basketball, football, baseball, and golf. The Super Bowl is the pinnacle of prop betting, with almost 40% of all bets being prop bets.

These are bets that you can place on events or occurrences during a game or on the actions of individual players. They do not affect the eventual outcome of the game. So, prop bettors are not concerned with which team will win and they do not have to wait until the end of the game to find out if they have won. They can place their bets before the game begins and, in some cases, collect their winnings before half-time.

Are prop bets a worthy proposition?

It depends on what you hope to gain from your gambling ventures. If you are looking toward sports betting to make a tidy profit, getting involved in prop betting is probably not the best idea. For one thing, prop bets have limited value as compared to other sports bets. For another, it is far more dependent on luck than skill. Taken together, the chances of getting a huge windfall are rather unlikely.

On the other hand, if you are looking for some fun and entertainment, prop betting will be right up your avenue. There are scores of online sportsbooks offering a wide variety of prop bets, ranging from straight-up to downright eccentric. These wagers can be a good way to figure out how sports betting works and to learn more about the sport you are betting on. Many times, people, who didn’t care too much about sports, have ended up getting caught in the action and enjoying the games after wagering on props.

Are props a money drain?

Given the limited value of prop bets, you are probably not likely to risk as much as you would with regular sports betting. However, there is a lot of uncertainty with prop betting. For instance, if the prop bet is on how many times the team mascot will show up on the big screen, which advertisements they will show, or even on how some politician might react to the game action, you require more luck than skill to place a winning bet. There is no way to strategize these types of bets.

While the uncertainly appeals to recreational bettors, the wagering may not be worth it for someone hoping to make a profit. That is why professional bettors generally avoid prop betting.

It is possible, however, to strategize to an extent with skill-based prop bets related to player or team actions, such as which player will score the first touchdown, which team will score before half-time, and so on. If you have sufficient knowledge about the sport, the teams, the players, the match-ups, and the game plans, or are prepared to put in enough research, you will be able to make informed predictions on how things might turn out. That can increase your chances of cashing in with the correct bet. You may even be able to make a good amount of money if you keep getting things right.

A few things to keep in mind

To get the most out of prop betting and avoid turning it into a money drain, it might help to follow these tips:

•  Placed your prop bets only with licensed online sportsbooks.

•  To get the best deal, shop around for different deals at different online sportsbooks and make comparisons.

•  Before placing your bet, read the terms and conditions and make sure there are ambiguities in them that might affect your winnings later.

•  Go with skill-based prop betting rather than luck-based props.

•  Research players and teams before placing your bet.

•  Visit online betting forums and pick up betting information, advice, and tips.

•  If you come up with betting strategies that work for you, keep them secret.

•  Practice moderation in your prop betting and only bet the money that you can afford to lose. If you find yourself going overboard, it might help to step back and take a break from sports betting.

NFL Prop Bet Payday – Five Monday Night Football Prop Bets to Make in Week Three

Do you enjoy predicting which team will make the first score during an NFL game? Are you able to predict how many yards a quarterback will be able to throw? You might want to try your luck with prop betting in that case. There won’t be any huge winnings, given the limited value of proposition bets, but they can be lucrative to an extent and they are enormous fun.

NFL Prop Bets

NFL player prop bets are wagers made on the activities of individual players or on player-related events that take place during the game, but they are not on outcomes that affect the result of the game.

For instance, you wouldn’t bet on whether Team A will beat Team B in proposition betting. You would bet on if Player A will or will not have a specific number of passing yards if a sports coach will wear a shirt of a specific color if a sports broadcaster will make a specific remark if a specific advertisement will show up on the big screen, the number of times a team mascot will appear on the big screen, and so on.

In prop betting, you can bet on almost anything except moneylines, game totals, and point spreads.

Each week of the NFL season you can find a range of interesting prop bets on licensed Las Vegas sportsbooks and online gambling sites, and you may be able to win some cash with these. As more lines become available, there will be more updated selections.

Five Monday Night Football Prop Bets to Make in Week Three

The range of prop bets in NFL games is extensive. Here are some that you might want to consider:

1. Prop bets on “The First Person to”

You can place bets on which player will be the first to score a touchdown in a game, which player will be the first to throw an interception in a season, and so on.

2. Prop bets on “Will it Occurs”

You can bet on events that might or might not occur during the game. For example, you can bet on whether a team might score a touchdown in the first half or if a team will kick a field goal in the first quarter.

3. Prop bets on player performances

Some examples of player performance prop bets are if Player X will rush for more or less than a specific amount of yards, if Player Z will take a specific number of catches, or which player will have the most receptions in a particular game.

4. Prop bets on time-based performances

Time-based performance prop bets that you can bet on include when the first touchdown of the game might occur when Player R might make the first interception, and so on.

5. Prop bets on novelties

You can bet on the color of the Gatorade that will be poured on the winning team’s coach, what will be the length of the national anthem, and so on.

NFL prop betting has enhanced the excitement of watching NFL games for regular sports fans as well as newcomers who are not familiar with professional football. You can bet on different options for the same props or bet on a variety of different props.

And one of the best things about prop betting is that, unlike standard betting, you don’t have to wait until the end of the game to discover if you have won your bets. If your prop bet is related to the first half of the game, you will find out right then if you have won.

While prop betting is too filled with uncertainties for anyone to come up with sure-fire winning strategies, it can possible to find an edge to exploit through careful research.

You are not always going to win, though, so it is essential to be responsible about your betting and not get carried away. You might end up losing more money than you planned otherwise. It is advisable to set a specific budget for it and stick to it. As much as possible, place your bets on props that you can analyze to some extent, and avoid props that require straight-out guesswork on your part.

Why NFL Prop Bets Have Become Popular?

Ever since sports gambling became legalized in different states in the United States, NFL prop bets have been gaining in popularity during football matches in the regular football season and also during the Super Bowl and other major football tournaments.

These wagers are not directly related to the final score or outcome of the game or tournament. You can bet on anything except moneylines, point spreads, and game totals.

To bet on NFL props, look up what’s on offer at licensed sportsbooks and online gambling sites. You can access hundreds of prop bets before an NFL game. You can find them in a listing or the menu when you click on the game.

The three categories of NFL prop bets are player props, game props, and novelty props.

Player props are related to the activities and statistics of individual players. These props are on offer for every NFL game. Game props are wagers related to events and play activities occurring during a game or tournament. Novelty props are bets on fun and eccentric things that are related to the game.

Reasons why NFL props are so popular

The prop betting craze began in 1986, during a New England Patriots versus Chicago Bears game in Super Bowl XX when bookmaker Art Manteris created a prop on whether William Perry of the Chicago Bears would score a touchdown in the game. Since then there have been hundreds of thousands of prop bets. The popularity of NFL prop bets is due to the following reasons:

NFL props can be a good introduction to sports gambling

If you are new to sports-related gambling, NFL props can be a good way of dipping your toe in and getting to know how the whole thing works. You can learn how to gather pertinent data to place informed bets and increase your chances of winning. Or you can enjoy the thrill of trying your luck with pure gambling.

NFL props can keep you engaged in the game

Placing NFL prop bets can add to the action of the game and keep you more engaged with the activities happening on-field and even off-field. Many first-time bettors place wagers for the sheer fun of it and then end up learning about the game and becoming fascinated with the action. Betting on NFL props can add to the overall enjoyment of the game, rather than just rooting for a player or a team. You get additional action and find a reason to stay more involved with the game.

NFL props can be entertaining

NFL prop bets can range from serious to zany. You can bet on the number of passing yards by a quarterback, or who will score the first touchdown. There can be bets on who will win the coin toss, what will be the color of the Gatorade used to drench the winning coach, or which colored shirt a team coach might wear. You can also bet on the national anthem length, whether the sports announcer will utter a specific phrase, which commercials will be shown on the big screen, or how many times a team mascot will appear on the big screen.

NFL prop bets have limited value

NFL props are mainly for fun and entertainment, not for scorning big monetary wins. As they have limited value, professional gamblers looking to score big winnings tend to steer clear of them. That can make them profitable for the casual bettors. As betting limits are low, you can specialize in certain types of props and beat the sportsbooks by getting one or two lines accurate. Most sportsbooks limit the amount of money that you can bet on player props. That ensures there will be no instances of cheating or manipulation.

NFL prop bets can be thrilling

It is difficult to create sure-fire winning strategies with NFL props. With player props and game props, you can benefit to an extent by being knowledgeable of the game and referring to game and player statistics. The novelty props mostly involve guesswork. The overall uncertainty of these types of bets is a big draw for recreational bettors who are looking for thrills during the game and don’t care too much if they lose.

Top NBA Props Bet Types for Beginners

Betting for beginners is often overwhelming, confusing, and exciting. Repeatedly, all of this happens at the same time.

But it does not have to be a mix of feelings. This article will guide you in learning how to learn to bet and the best NBA prop bets tonight that you can cash upon.

Types of NBA Props Bets and Best Picks for Tonight

NBA props bets come in a rich variety of formats. Let’s take a look at each one of them.

1. Wagers

Online sportsbooks that bettors can access on betting websites contain three main features. Betting websites call these features standard wagers because they are the first type of betting for any NBA game.

The bettors can see Moneyline, point spread, and total columns in the sportsbook. Moneyline is predicting which of the two teams will win the game in the end. In a point spread, the bettors will predict how many points a specific team should gain.

This number has to put them over the top to win the game against the opposition team. On the other hand, the total is the overall points that a team might score.

One of the top bets tonight is James Harden of the Brooklyn Nets. The wager is +100, so this bet is the way to go to predict the outcome accurately. If Harden is playing tonight, then this bet will definitely turn out to be true.

The example about James Harden is also a different type of NBA props bet type. This is specific to a player. Bettors can also make their bets specific to one player or a group of players.

2. Combining one or more bets

In a concept called parlay, bettors can combine more than two bets as a single bet. However, this comes with a risk of its own. If the bettor wins the bet, then they will earn a huge amount of all the bets combined. However, if they lose, then they will lose a lot of money as well.

On Wednesday, one of the best NBA prop bets tonight is whether Por Trail Blazers will win or lose. One of the team’s best players, Damian Lillard, is scoring very few runs this season and is not performing his best. This concept means that the team’s winning or losing is in question even though the team won seven of the total eight games it played. The parlay is created to see whether bettors think that the team will win or lose. The team might also face a very tough opponent in Portland.

Bettors are aiming for Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks. The idea is that Portis’ height will give him an enormous advantage when he will play against Stanley Johnson. Although recovering from injuries, bettors are shooting for $4,000 for Portis.

Kenrich Williams is also trending on sports betting websites. Bettors are currently aiming for +118, but that number is very likely to change given William’s past performance in the last 4 to 5 games.

Brooks Lopez is rapidly growing in popularity as well. Sportsbooks expect Lopez to rebound in the next game. This expectation is increasing the wager to +120 for Lopez. Bettors are betting large amounts for Lopez because his past performance has been thrilling like Williams.

Zeke Nanji is another player who bettors are voting for currently. Although Nanji is a rotation player primarily covering for Paul after his injury, Nanji has already proven this worth to the NBA game in the last two games. The current wager on Nanji is $3000. It has already increased by $300 just in the previous two hours. Bettors can seriously consider Nanji for NBA player prop.

The NBA props, or proposition bets, do not influence the outcome of the game. Instead, they help fans feel connected to the game. Fans follow NBA games, and the players can feel confident in betting. The best NBA props bets tonight change from day to day, but the trends continue to stick. A team that is not playing cannot make significant progress overnight. Bettors who are beginning to join the betting field need to be aware of the larger trends that are at play.

Good luck with betting!

Odds and Betting Guide on NFL Prop Bets

All of us have engaged in betting at some point in our lives. In our daily lives, this takes the form of betting against friends. For example, we might say, “I bet you cannot jump over that puddle!” or “I bet you $20 that you will not score more than me in the math exam”.

NFL prop bets or “proposition bets” work in a similar manner. Instead of betting against friends, bettors vouch for one team over the other. Betting is as much if not more popular than viewers who watch and enjoy the game. It connects fans with one another and to the game and its players.

If you are just beginning to enter the betting field and are looking to learn how to bet and earn money from it, then you are in the right place. This article will guide you in getting started with betting and how to make (and not lose) money from it.

The three aspects of NFL prop bets

NFL prop bets consist of three concepts that amateur bettors need to be familiar with.

What does the spread mean?

The spread reflects the effort to allow betting that is equal for both teams. The bettors will see this as a spread of a number of points alongside the team’s name. The spread essentially awards points to the team that is lacking points to give an equal chance to cover the points.

What does Moneyline mean?

When a bettor is betting in the Moneyline, they are choosing the team that has the highest probability of winning. Moneyline is usually represented as positive and negative numbers.

A Moneyline figure of +300 would mean that bettors need to give $300 to win $100. On the other hand, a Moneyline figure of -120 means that the bettors will win $150 if they place a bet of $100.

What do totals mean?

The third and final aspect in NFL prop bets is the total. In this concept, the bettors are not predicting the team that will win the game. They are also not predicting outcomes of questions like who will win the coin toss. Instead, totals mean that bettors are guessing the number of runs that a specific team will make by the end of the match. In this concept, bettors are only concerned about the total number of points.

What are the different types of NFL prop bets?

There are two types of NFL prop bets. Bettors can choose to place their bets only on a single game. They can also opt to bet throughout the session for each game. Bettors can choose their answers based on a range of options.

Touchdowns

In NFL, a point is defined as a touchdown when the ball literally touches the ground in the line of the goal. One of the questions in an NFL prop bet is how many touchdowns a particular team will accomplish by the end of the game.

Rushing yards

As the name suggests, rushing yards occur when a team rushes nearer to their goal with the ball. Their aim is to gain yards or distance from the opposition team to have a clearer shot at the goal. NFL prop bets include how many rushing yards there might be in an entire game.

Turnovers

In NFL, a turnover occurs when the team that’s possessing the ball loses it and another team possesses it. NFL prop bets include guessing how many turnovers happen in an entire match or per player or team.

While these are the popular concepts surrounding NFL prop bets, subtler questions include how many penalties a team might score in a single match or an entire season. Here are additional questions common to NFL prop bets:

● Which team will score the first run?

● Which team will score the final run?

● What is the number of touchdowns for the team?

● Will any team earn three consecutive points?

NFL prop bets are not impossible to understand. Bettors looking to enter this field need to spend time understanding the players and the teams inside out. The in-depth knowledge will help the bettor in choosing the right team for betting. It will also help in understanding the exact amount that the bettor should bet for a team. Amateurs looking to getting started can start with betting on single games. With that experience, they can bet for bigger seasonal games in the future.

Happy betting!

Prop Bets – A Guide to Understanding Proposition Bets

Proposition bets, better known as prop bets, are wagers that you can place on events and occurrences that take place during basketball, football, boxing, and other sporting games or on actions that the sportsmen might take. These events, occurrences, and actions generally do not have any direct bearing on the outcome of the game. You can search online for best prop bets tonight to find on-going wagers, and you will notice that the emphasis on these bets is more on the entertainment factor.

Unlike point spreads, moneylines, and game totals, where people bet serious money, proposition bets are strictly for recreational bettors looking for some fun and entertainment.

Understanding proposition bets

Here’s what you should know about these bets:

Prop bets can verge on the bizarre

There can be bets on almost anything in prop betting. For instance, you can bet on which team will win the coin toss, which football team will make the most goals, and which basketball player will make the first dunk. You can also bet on the number of appearances that a team mascot makes on the big screen, or on which commercial shows up first. There have been proposition bets on whether celebrity entertainers will get their lyrics right, on the shirt color of a sports broadcaster, and even on how some politicians might react to the game.

The various sportsbooks try to outdo one another in coming up with the most inventive, absurd, and zany bets possible. As far as the entertainment bettors are concerned, the weirder the better.

Prop bets aren’t affected by the final game outcome

As prop bets have little or nothing to do with which team wins the game, you can relax and enjoy the game. It doesn’t matter who wins or who loses. That’s not the main issue for you.

Prop bets can be straight-out gambling

Searching for “best prop bets tonight” will point you towards bets that require some sporting knowledge and others that are too eccentric to need any. Since most of these bets are more about guesswork, it is pointless to try and develop a strategy for them. You just have to place your bet on one out of two options and hope that the one you picked is the winner.

Prop bets are not going to win you any big money

As prop bets have limited value in comparison with other bet types, they are also less profitable. If you want to try to win serious money with betting, then these aren’t the bets for you. Most big-time bettors steer clear of proposition betting. You are more likely to lose than win, so the investment is not worth it for them. On the other hand, it is this very risk and uncertainty that appeals to recreational bettors.

Tips for proposition betting

If you decide to try your luck with proposition betting, here are a few useful tips that might help you:

• Don’t go with the first prop bet you encounter. It will serve you better to shop around at various licensed sportsbooks. Go through the various deals that they have on offer and make comparisons to find the best for you before betting.

• To become more knowledgeable about prop betting, it will be a good idea to visit different sports betting forums and follow betting discussions. You can find out what seasoned bettors are saying about available bets and the various sportsbooks. You will be able to learn from their experiences and pick up useful tips.

• Before placing your bets, find out what the exact betting procedures are for proposition betting. You should also make sure that you are placing your bets safely.

• Another thing to do before placing your bet is to carefully read all the terms of the proposition bets. It is crucial to make sure that there is no ambiguity in the terms that might leave things open to interpretation at a later juncture. You don’t want to place your bet and then risk losing your money because you failed to comprehend the exact legal meaning of their terms.

• Given how risky proposition betting is, bet only the amount of money you can afford to lose.

Finding Value Betting on MLB Home Run Single Game Props

MLB is a fascinating game with 162 games that are played by 30 teams. These teams are popular among citizens for their skilled game but also for the value found in betting on them. MLB betting allows viewers to increase their interaction with the game and understand the finer aspects of how the games are won. Many game propositions are Yes or No questions. Sometimes the bettor can choose from a set of previously assimilated options about the team’s performance, which team is more likely to win, how long the national anthem could be, and others.

#1 Look beyond the popular teams and favorite players

It is very likely that the famous teams already have a large following — which is why they will be overpriced (and their popularity won’t always guarantee that they will win, so that’s an unlikely place to bet). The pricing of favorite teams has increased by more than 60% since 2005.

Instead, look at the less popular but strong teams. Who is more likely to hit the home run first?

Betting on favorites would also mean lesser money than what you would put up, whereas underdogs are a better bet. Why so? Let us say that you bet your money on an underdog team and they lose. In this case, you will only lose the money that you risked. However, if they win, you will gain a lot in the payouts. From all the games that you will bet upon, you will need to win 52.4% of them to make significant profits.

#2 Keep a check on the Reverse Line Movement

There are times in MLB games where the line moves away from the side that is scoring the majority of the bets. For example, the Patriots may drop a point despite having 76% of the bets. For a bettor to derive value from MLB props, it is essential to see where the line is moving. A person who bets earlier gets a lesser payout in the end than someone who places their bet later.

#3 What’s the weather outside?

A prolific bettor always knows their game. In MLB games, a wind speed of 5 miles per hour or higher can influence the team’s success. Always keep the weather in mind while considering the odds of a team winning or losing.

#4 Who’s the umpire?

In addition to knowing the nitty-gritty details about the game, it helps to remember that umpires are humans too. Being knowledgeable about the umpires and their history will help in understanding the odds for specific teams.

#5 The F5 betting

MLB games being in April and end in October. This means that in April and May, the teams are just getting adjusted to playing consistently. Many things are also in a state of flux: new players make their debut, new managers find their pitch and more. The first five innings of MLB games have less risk to the bettor because they consider only the first half of the game, thus eliminating complex statistical information.

#6 Keep the sportsbook by your side

The majority of the public leans toward betting on the expensive teams, popularized by the media, or otherwise have famous players. However, sportsbooks like Odd Shark contain vital statistics about players and their teams. Bettors must take into account their information while deciding on who to bet for. The most popular team is not always the most prolific.

#7 Shop around

At the beginning of every MLB season, comparing different sportsbooks on the internet helps to see which one is the most efficient and accurate. There are many comparison tools found online, like the Roto Grinders that customize their data by location.

#8 Stay informed

Keep updated with the latest information on how strong the team’s defense is (look at their pitcher) and how well they attack (look at their hitters).

Summary

Finding value betting on MLB home run single game props is not impossible — it is an art that takes patience, time, and a keen interest to understand the minute details. And as with art, bettors improve their success with experience. Happy betting!

With the rise in fantasy sports, there are numerous platforms available today on which you can bet on the player props. But you need to find the best and authentic player prop bets where the individual player projects can be trusted to compare against the prop lines.

Look for a trusted website or an application

The first thing you must do when you decide to play prop bets is to find an authentic source that offers all the player prop bets that you can trust. Since you will be putting your hard-earned money in here, you do not want a place that is like a black hole. Therefore, research about various platforms of fantasy sports and then arrive at a decision.

Level playing field player props

If you love NFL, then you must take advantage of the level playing field player props. Since NFL is all about statistics, you will find every little stat on all the aspects of the player’s performance that you can analyze in and out completely. Also, there are many places on the internet where you can find free data about these stats that you can research. There are places where you can find statistical data of the player by home, away record, by year, and by quarter. However, you need to understand that this data is not going to win your bets, but it will surely improve your analyzing skills so that you become faster when it comes to making decisions while playing the best. Consider it as a starting point.

Understanding the prop odds

If you want to become a pro in prop betting then you must be able to understand the prop odds first. For instance, here is an example of the prop odds that you will usually find on any betting platform:

NFL First Touchdown Scorer: Eagles vs Packers

Zach Ertz +300

Davante Adams +700

Miles Sanders +1000

Aaron Jones +450

Now, if you think that Ertz is going to score the first touchdown and you bet say $40 and if you win then you are going to get a total amount of $160, which means you earned a profit of $120.

It is about time

It is the most vital part of sports betting is finding the right bet at the right time. And to do that, you need to pick the best platform that offers the competitive betting line that suits your needs. Be it wagering on receiving yards or passing or rushing yards or over/under numbers, make sure that the timing is right, and the place is right to put your money on.

In the end, be wise and responsible for what you are doing here. Make sure that you are thoroughly investigating the players that you are planning to bet on. Remember, research is important and if you are facing any financial constraints, do not indulge in betting as it can go terribly wrong. These little tricks will surely help you if you are planning to wager on prop bets. Just remember to have a lot of fun with it!

Where Can I Bet on NBA Player Props Per Game?

Of all of the important sports, the NBA is the one with the most interesting individual statistics. Whether it is assisting numbers/ big rebounding, or players going for big individual scoring nights or triple-doubles, the statistics players put up on a nightly basis are what makes basketball such a great sport to watch. What makes those statistics even more interesting to us is betting on them? Every night of the NBA season there are player props that you can bet on how much someone will score, their total rebounds, assists, or a combination of it all.

In this post, we’re going to show you where to bet on NBA props, where to bet at them, and most importantly, a strategy to win at betting on them.

Where to Bet NBA Player Props:

America: The best site out there for betting NBA Player Props is Bovada. Take for instance a game that had happened during the 2017 season between the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic. If you put this game on national TV, nobody would watch it. The Magic were one of the worst teams in the NBA and the Pistons are not exactly dominating the standings. For this meaningless game, Bovada had 117 NBA Player Props available to bet. That is the beauty of betting.

Canada: One of the perfect places for betting on NBA Player Props is Bodog. They usually offer a huge selection of player props on a nightly basis with all the top games of the night covered.

Everywhere Else: 888 offers some nice NBA Player Props, primarily focusing on points and rebounds. These are available for every game on each night’s slate which is nice.

What are NBA Player Props?

NBA Player Props are simply, betting on what a player will perform in a given game. For example, you have a player like Russell Westbrook. The 2016-2017 NBA Champ and one of the biggest statistic grabbers in the game today. On any given night you can bet on how many points he will have, the number of rebounds, how many assists, or a combination of the previous.

A typical night of betting might look like this:

• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 30.5 Total Points
• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 9.5 Total Assists
• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 9.5 Total Rebounds
• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 39.5 Total Points and Rebounds
• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 39.5 Total Points and Assists
• Russell Westbrook Over/Under 48.5 Total Points, Rebounds, and Assists

You’ll find that the bigger stars usually have more betting options, but you would be surprised at just how in-depth these betting props go as a single game in the NBA will have over 100 NBA Player Prop betting options. With even more for a playoff game or a marquee match-up.

Raiders at Chiefs Props

Josh Jacobs Under 81.5 Rush Yards (-113)

Dating back to last season, this is Jacobs’ breakdown of rushing yards based on Raiders losses and wins:

Losses (9): 75.4
Wins (8): 75.4

The Raiders are 11-point underdogs against the Chiefs and they could be forced into a pass-heavy game script early on. Jacobs will be effective as a runner in the first half, but become more of a pass-catcher in the second as the Raiders play catch-up.

Rams at Washington Props

Logan Thomas Over 2.5 Receptions (-167)

Logan Thomas Over 3.5 Receptions (+136)

There are reasons why people want to invest in Thomas catching four or more passes this week.

First, he has done so in three out of four games so far. Second, he has consistently run a route on 85-95% dropbacks in every game. Third, Kyle Allen is replacing Dwayne Haskins, and that is a move that could benefit Thomas.

Koerner: Best Bets for Week 5

Allen has proven to be a more accurate passer than Haskins (that is not a difficult task), so it can only help Thomas’s 46.4% catch rate (fifth-lowest among qualified pass-catchers). Allen also showed a tendency for targeting his tight ends last season with the Panthers.

Furthermore, backup tight end Marcus Baugh is expected to miss Week 5 and Terry McLaurin is likely to face Jalen Ramsey for much of the game, leading to a few more targets this week for Thomas.

Bet to 3.5 (+125)

Jaguars at Texans Props

David Johnson Under 3.5 Receptions (-182)

Despite the massive juice on this NFL prop bets, there is still a ton of value on the under.

David has yet to grab four balls in a game this season, despite the 0-4 Texans being in a pass-heavy trailing game script in every game so far — and that was with Duke Johnson missing two of the four games. Well, Duke returned last week and cut significantly into DJ’s routes run per drop back — he ran on only 38% in Week 4 after averaging an 82% rate in Weeks 1 to 3.

DJ should play more of the 2019 Carlos Hyde role in Sunday’s game with the Texans favored by 5.5 points, which should allow the team to use him heavily on the ground and use Duke as a change-of-pace/third-down back.

Bet down to 3.5 (-250)

Cardinals at Jets Props

Larry Fitzgerald Under 35.5 Receiving Yards (-112)

At 37 years old, Fitzgerald is in the middle of his inevitable decline
DeAndre Hopkins is the focal point of this passing offense now while Andy Isabella and Christian Kirk are both trending up in terms of health and playing time.

Fitz has run a route on 90% of passing plays the past two weeks and posted a combined stat line of 3/4/0. He should bounce back this week, but it will be hard for him to clear this number considering his average depth of target at 4.4 yards.

It’s hard to project Fitz to see too much positive retrogression considering he is pretty much maxed out in playing time and targets as is — he has not been lucky in any metric other than being able to play football at 37.

Bet down to 32.5

John Hightower Over 24.5 Receiving Yards (-113)

This is more of a bet on the opportunity.

With Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson out again this week, we can bank on Hightower for running a route on 80-85% of pass plays. He has been targeted on only 9% of his routes run so far — a rate that we can expect to regress upward given the lack of competition for targets right now.
